Bags on Tour: Saigon

Just back from a week in Saigon so here are a couple of photos……

That’s me with a magenta ‘Shenley’ X body bag (loads of zips – so very secure for travel). I had heard that bag snatching is rife in certain parts of the city so I kept this one close at all times. I took the magenta colour because it went with all the outfits I packed so I just needed one big and one mini handbag for the whole trip.

This photo was taken in the main market in central Saigon. You can buy everything here from meat, fruit & veg, to pots & pans, clothes, jewellery, textiles and even (ahem) a Rolex! I passed on all the invitations to buy myself a new Gucci or Prada bag…..mmmmm!

I’m standing in the main central aisle, which is the widest aisle in the whole market, so you can imagine how crowed it can seem when it gets busy. This was a quiet morning!

This one was taken on a day trip to the Cu Chi tunnels (tiny dug out tunnels in the countryside north west of Saigon, where the Viet Cong hid during the war in the 60’s).

I took my mini fuchsia X body this time as I didn’t want a big bag on the boat trip journey and the walk around the forest paths.

I look like I’m about to go into the tunnel but after seeing how small it was I made a swift exit.

I will be posting a more detailed account of my trip and other sights and bites in the next few days…. Saigon is really a fascinating place to visit.

I was so glad I decided to travel with 2 bags that can be securely worn across the body and would definitely recommend similar styles for keeping your essentials secure and also for ‘hands free’ travel.
